Most Likely Cause

When autoTap is installed but pressing Play produces no taps, the cause is almost always one of these:

  1. Accessibility permission is off — the service was never enabled, or Android revoked it after an update
  2. Battery optimization killed the service — the manufacturer's power manager stopped autoTap in the background
  3. Incompatible Android version — autoTap requires Android 7.0 or higher

Start with step 1 before anything else. It resolves the issue in the majority of cases.

Fix 1 — Re-enable Accessibility Service

1

Open Settings → Accessibility

Go to Settings on your device. Find Accessibility (sometimes under Additional Settings or Smart Assistance depending on your manufacturer).

2

Find autoTap in the list

Look for autoTap under Installed Services or Downloaded Apps. If you don't see it, scroll down — it may be below system services.

3

Toggle autoTap ON

Tap the autoTap entry and toggle the switch to ON. Confirm the Android permission dialog by tapping Allow.

4

Return to autoTap and test

Open autoTap, press Start, and the floating panel should appear. Then set a tap point and click to start.

Samsung and Xiaomi users

On Samsung devices, look under Settings → Accessibility → Installed apps. On Xiaomi/MIUI devices, go to Settings → Additional settings → Accessibility.

Fix 2 — Disable Battery Optimization

If the Accessibility toggle keeps reverting to OFF after a few minutes or a reboot, battery optimization is the culprit.

1

Open Settings → Battery

Navigate to Settings, then Battery or Battery & performance.

2

Find Battery optimization

Tap Battery optimization (or Power saving exceptions, depending on your device).

3

Set autoTap to Don't optimize

Find autoTap in the app list and change its setting to Don't optimize or No restrictions.

On Xiaomi/MIUI devices, also go to Developer Options and disable MIUI Optimization.

Fix 3 — Check Your Android Version

autoTap requires Android 7.0 (API 24) or higher. To check your version:

  1. Go to Settings → About phone
  2. Look for Android version

If your device runs Android 6 or lower, autoTap will not work. Consider updating your device software if an update is available.

Fix 4 — Reinstall autoTap

If none of the above fixes work, try a clean reinstall:

  1. Uninstall autoTap from Settings → Apps
  2. Restart your device
  3. Download autoTap again from the Play Store
  4. Enable the Accessibility permission as described in Fix 1
Pro tip

After reinstalling, wait 30–60 seconds before checking the Accessibility list — the service needs time to register with Android.
