Why This Permission Is Required

Android restricts any app from tapping on behalf of the user by default. The Accessibility Service API is the only official Android mechanism that allows an app to inject synthetic touch events — which is exactly what autoTap needs to simulate taps at your chosen coordinates and interval.

This is a normal, Google-sanctioned API used by screen readers, switch controls, and productivity apps. It does not require root or any special developer mode.

Quick check

Already granted this permission but autoTap still isn't working? Check that battery optimization hasn't revoked the service — see the Troubleshooting section below.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1

Open autoTap and tap Enable Permission

Launch autoTap. The home screen shows a yellow banner if Accessibility Service isn't active. Tap Enable Permission — this opens Android Settings directly to the correct screen.

2

Find autoTap in the Accessibility list

You'll land on Settings → Accessibility → Installed Services. Scroll down to find autoTap. On Samsung it may be under Downloaded apps; on Xiaomi, under Additional settings → Accessibility.

3

Toggle autoTap ON and tap Allow

Tap autoTap in the list, then toggle the switch to ON. Android shows a permission dialog — tap Allow to confirm. This dialog is a standard Android security disclosure shown for all apps using this API.

4

Return to autoTap — you're done

Press Back or use Recents to return. The yellow banner will be gone and the Start button will be active. You only need to do this once per install.

Manufacturer-Specific Notes

Most Android devices follow the same path, but some manufacturers bury Accessibility deeper in their settings:

  • Samsung (One UI): Settings → Accessibility → Installed apps
  • Xiaomi / MIUI: Settings → Additional settings → Accessibility
  • Huawei (EMUI): Settings → Smart assistance → Accessibility
  • OnePlus / OxygenOS: Settings → Accessibility (same as stock Android)
  • Oppo / ColorOS: Settings → Additional settings → Accessibility
Battery optimization

Some manufacturers auto-kill background services. If autoTap stops unexpectedly, go to Settings → Battery → Battery optimization, find autoTap, and set it to "Don't optimize."

Troubleshooting

The banner is still showing after I granted permission

Force-close autoTap and reopen it. Some devices have a short delay before the app detects the permission change. If it still shows, toggle the service OFF and ON again in Settings.

The toggle keeps switching back to OFF

This is almost always battery optimization. Go to Settings → Battery → Battery optimization, find autoTap, and set it to "Don't optimize." On Xiaomi/MIUI, also disable MIUI Optimization under Developer Options.

autoTap doesn't appear in my Accessibility list

Try uninstalling and reinstalling autoTap from the Play Store. On fresh installs there can be a 30–60 second delay before the service registers. If it still doesn't appear, reboot your device and check again.

Is it safe to give autoTap Accessibility permission?

Yes. autoTap only uses this permission to inject tap events at coordinates you specify. It does not read screen content, capture passwords, or transmit any data. The Android dialog is a standard security disclosure shown for every app using this API.
